Defense and National Security

Semandex has been a leader in developing and deploying semantic solutions for defense and national security since 2000. Our first-generation product, was deployed to Iraq in 2004 with the Marine Corps as their all-source tactical intelligence tool, MarineLink, and is now part of a Program of Record baseline.

Since the release of Tango, Semandex has worked in collaboration with the Department of Defense to develop Tango-based applications, customized to the specific department’s needs.  The latest Tango-based tool is the Semantic Web Implementation for Marines (SWIM), being transitioned into another Marine Corps tactical Program of Record. We are working towards transitioning the SWIM tool into other Programs of Record.

Tango is available as a Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) product and Tango-based tools are available both as Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) and as Government Off-The-Shelf (GOTS) baseline.

Semandex advances a robust Research and Development (R&D) effort to maintain our leadership in semantic technologies. We are recipients of competitive research efforts funded by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), National Institutes of Health (NIH), Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) and Office of Naval Research (ONR).

We are committed to maintaining our leadership position in the development and use of semantic technologies in support of our nation’s intelligence community.
